BMGI manages the assets of Cascade Investments, which makes private investments for the Gates family, as well as managing the family's extensive charitable activities through the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Trust endowment. BMGI, through Cascade, invests in a wide variety of asset classes, including global public equities, venture capital, private equity, hedge fund strategies, and investments in fund managers.
