How this is counted

  • Deals are the venture and growth rounds, buyouts and sponsor stakes FundComb has recorded since November 2023, each from a public page that names the investor. A deal counts once for every FundComb investor named in it.
  • Counts follow what is public and readable. Accelerators publish every company in each cohort, so they lead raw counts; many private equity firms post a fraction of their deals; and much of the Australian and New Zealand startup press does not allow us to read it. Comparing deals led, one stage or one investor type is fairer than one count across all investors.
  • Led counts deals the investor led, co-led or made alone, as the source says.
  • US$ in rounds adds up the size of the rounds and deals the investor took part in, not its own cheque, which sources rarely give. One very large round lifts it; the cell's tooltip says how many deals disclosed a size.
  • Exits are sales by the investor: the company sold or listed, or a stake sold (a minority holding sold to another investor, or part of a holding with the rest kept). Each investor's profile says which. A stage filter hides them, because a sale has no stage.
  • Dates are when a deal was announced or closed. A deal dated only by month counts from the middle of that month, and one dated only by year from the middle of the year.
  • Head office is the one the investor's profile shows. Where a new profile has none yet, the country and investor type the deal sources give it are used when two-thirds of them agree; an investor with neither shows only under "Based anywhere", which also adds global investors, counted on the deals recorded here.

A round, buyout or exit we have not recorded, or one with the wrong investors. A link to a public source helps.
